Built in Pretoria, Built for Africa

Legalaut was founded in 2021 with a clear vision: to close the legal technology gap in Africa. Our founders saw first-hand how manual processes, paper-heavy workflows, and outdated systems were holding back legal professionals across the continent.

Starting from a small office on Church Street in Pretoria, we set out to build a platform that combines cutting-edge automation with deep understanding of South African and African legal frameworks. Today, we serve hundreds of law firms, corporate legal departments, and government agencies across the region.

Our platform is designed from the ground up for the African legal landscape, with built-in compliance for POPIA, the Companies Act, and other critical legislation, ensuring that our clients can work faster without sacrificing accuracy.

2021

The Beginning

Legalaut founded in Pretoria by a team of legal professionals and software engineers determined to modernize legal workflows in South Africa.

2022

Platform Launch

Launched our first product: the Document Automation engine. Onboarded 50 law firms in Gauteng within the first six months. Secured seed funding from local investors.

2023

Expansion & Growth

Introduced Contract Management and Legal Analytics modules. Expanded to the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. Surpassed 200 active firms on the platform.

2024

POPIA Compliance Suite

Launched dedicated Compliance Tools with full POPIA integration. Partnered with the Law Society of South Africa for practitioner training programmes.

2025

Africa Expansion

Expanded operations into Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Namibia, and Botswana. Released the E-Signature module compliant with multiple African jurisdictions. Series A funding secured.

2026

AI-Powered Future

Launched AI-driven document analysis and predictive analytics. Surpassed 500 active firms and 1.2 million documents generated. Opened new headquarters on Church Street, Pretoria.
